Ambassador’s Self Help Fund Grants

The United States Mission in Sierra Leone is pleased to announce a funding opportunity through the Ambassador’s Special Self-Help (SSH) Program for 2018.  Local village groups, organizations, and communities are eligible to apply

Applications should focus on supporting projects that address a critical community need that is sustainable and continue to provide benefit long after the expiration of the project. The project should be an endeavor that the community could not otherwise achieve on its own.

Grant awards range from $1000 – $6000.  The period of performance will be for one year from October 1, 2018 to September 31, 2019.

Applications will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Technical merits of the application and compliance with the application guidelines.
  • Cost-effectiveness and sustainability.
  • Capacity and contributions of the applicant.
  • Appropriate local community representation.
  • Support from local community leadership.

Interested organizations should submit an application using the form available from the U.S. Mission (Word Document 171 KB).  The SSH application form is attached below.

Completed applications should be submitted as soon as possible, and no later than September 17, 2018.  Earlier proposals and electronic submissions may be given greater consideration.
