Economic & Commercial Section
The Economic and Commercial Section of the U.S. Embassy, Freetown is responsible for analyzing and reporting on economic developments in Sierra Leone and the region as well as safeguarding and promoting U.S. economic interests. The section promotes U.S. goods in the Sierra Leone market and assists U.S. companies who wish to find local partners or do business in Sierra Leone. The section manages a broad array of bilateral and multilateral policy issues to include banking, commerce, economic development, energy, environment, finance, foreign direct investment, intellectual property, science, technology, telecommunications, trade, transportation, health, and the environment. The Economic and Commercial Section serves as a point of contact for international, governmental, non-governmental, and private organizations regarding business, commerce, and trade issues.
The section includes the Embassy’s Special Projects Office, which manages small grants awarded to local community-based organizations throughout Sierra Leone. More information about grant opportunities can be found here.
