Location: Moriba Village (Southeast of Bo, Southern Region), Sierra Leone
Event: Local authorities have notified the Embassy of continuing protests in the area of Moriba Village in the southern region of Sierra Leone. The protests are related to an ongoing strike at the Sierra Rutile mine. Roads may be blocked. A Town Hall meeting was held Friday, November 23, 2018 with the striking miners and local police have restored calm, but protests can erupt at any time and could become violent. The U.S. Embassy has advised its personnel to avoid the protest area.
